  • (Dover Building): Take Charge. What Matters Most to You? presented by Nicole Fullmer, Honoring Choices® Delaware: Discover how end-of-life planning can give your life new meaning. Learn how to capture your end-of-life wishes in an Advance Directive so loved ones can honor your choices with dignity and respect. Get ready to live your best life with greater insight and intention!
  • (Ag Building): Getting Blood Sugars Close to Target Range presented by Tina Trout: Come learn about the FreeStyle Libre scanned and Dexcom Continuous Glucose monitoring 7-14 day devices. These monitors reduce the need for frequent finger sticks and provide 24 hour review of highs and lows to you, family and health care team. This new technology helps you learn how diabetes medicine, food, exercise, stress and illness impact your blood sugars. Daily use can help you improve your blood sugar control, reach target ranges and improve your health.

12:00 – 1:30 PM Food Truck Lunch (Kent Building): Attendees will receive a $10 food voucher at check-in to use at the following local food trucks: Grandpa Mac, Jay’s FIL AM Mobile Cuisine and The Tipsy Flamingo.  Additional food can be purchased on own.

12:00 – 12:30 PM 20th Annual Expo Celebration presented by Nina Pletcher, MEd, RD, CDE, President, Delaware Diabetes Coalition (Kent Building): We’ll celebrate this great achievement by recognizing honorary guests, hearing from our scholarship recipients and enjoying sugar free treats from My Sister’s Fault.

12:30 – 1:00 PM Keynote: Understanding Insurance and How it Pertains to Prescription Drugs presented by Trinidad Navarro, Insurance Commissioner, State of Delaware (Kent Building)

1:30 – 2:30 PM Breakout Sessions: Choose one breakout session

  • (Dover Building): Dining with Diabetes Cooking Demonstration presented by Kimi Moore & Kathleen Splane, University of Delaware Cooperative Extension: Dining with Diabetes is a five part nutrition and cooking series for people with diabetes, their family members and support people, but is open to anyone – with or without diabetes. The program includes diabetes education-specifically around nutrition, cooking demonstrations, and tasting of healthy foods. 
  • (Ag Building): The Dangers of Polypharmacy presented by Kim Zeitler Robbins, Delaware Pharmacists Society: The use of multiple drugs to treat multiple diseases and other health conditions is known as polypharmacy. This is a growing concern for older adults. Polypharmacy is more common among older adults, many of whom have multiple chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, depression and hypertension. In this talk, you will learn about safety concerns when using too many medications.
